PixBar 0.5.6
Docs
Install the mod, pick a creature, choose where it lives. The full reference, with the skin file format, is the README on GitHub.
Install
Inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add ke11/claude-mods
/plugin install pixbar@claude-mods
The creature appears above the prompt. Mods do not load in a folder you have not trusted.
Update
Run /plugin and update PixBar from the list, then restart Claude Code. The same screen disables or removes it.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/pixbar | A menu: your theme and layout, and the command to change each. |
/pixbar theme whale | The whale, in a sea. The default. |
/pixbar theme clawd | Clawd, on land. Kept for your next session. |
/pixbar layout band | Above the prompt. The default. |
/pixbar layout pane | A pane of its own, beside the transcript, for this session. |
c | Hide or show the context-window breakdown. |
Settings
/plugin configure pixbar@claude-mods sets both the theme and the layout. The theme there and /pixbar theme are the same choice: whichever you set last is used. The layout set there is kept between sessions; /pixbar layout lasts for one session.
What the creature shows
- Motion is the turn: idle, thinking, running tools, answering.
- Fill is your context window, one pixel row for every tenth.
- Height (the whale) or the time of day (clawd) is your five-hour usage window.
- Plants and litter on the floor mean uncommitted work. A commit clears them.
The usage meters need a Claude subscription. With an API key there are none to show.
Your own creature
A skin is a text file of pixel rows and colours. Copy whale.sh, set SKIN_NAME, save it as ~/.claude/pixbar/skins/<name>.sh, then run /pixbar theme <name>. The file is read as data and never run. The fields are listed in the README.
Remove
Run /plugin and remove PixBar from the list. Your own skins stay in ~/.claude/pixbar/; delete the folder if you do not want them.
